TCI at CDEMA Technical Advisory Committee Meeting

Dr.  Virgina Clerveaux, head of TCIG Department of Disaster Management and Emergencies (DDME) will represent the Turks and Caicos Islands at the 4th Meeting of the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) of the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) to be held in Belize, from April 17-18, 2013.

Among the matters for consideration by the TAC is the five-year Strategic Plan of the CDEMA Coordinating Unit (2013-2018) for the continued advancement of the Comprehensive Disaster Management (CDM) work programme which is expected to guide the direction of disaster management in all the CDEMA participating states.

Other issues for discussion include: a modified approach to the use of the Country Directed Fund; the monitoring and evaluation of CDEMA’s work and potential areas of technical support for National Work Programme Delivery and National Comprehensive Disaster Management Legislation and Regulations.

The Meeting is being hosted by the Government of Belize through the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) in collaboration with CDEMA  and is being held at the Radisson Fort George Hotel in Belize.

The CDEMA Participating states are Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, the British Virgin Islands, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Montserrat, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago and the Turks and Caicos Islands.
